Lawyer of Counsel admitted to the Paris Bar since 2002

Specialist in criminal law

Benoît Denis has been a member of the Paris Bar since 2002 and holds a certificate of specialisation in criminal law since 2019. His practice focuses on industrial and environmental risks before the criminal, civil and administrative courts, as well as in energy law.

A former legal assistant at the Paris financial division and the Paris Court of Appeal, he has pleaded several emblematic cases at Huglo Lepage where he is in charge of sensitive litigation cases (Xynthia, green algae, dioxin pollution, nuclear risk, Lubrizol, etc.).

As counsel, he also advises on real estate law and business law and has developed expertise in energy law, particularly in the area of energy saving certificates (CEE), for which the firm is recognised as a major player in the Paris market.

In terms of professional distinctions, Benoît Denis has been awarded several independent rankings recognising his expertise in energy law and criminal law.

The American legal magazine Best Lawyers, which lists the French lawyers recognised by their peers, has distinguished him in energy since 2022 (https://www.bestlawyers.com/lawyers/benoit-denis/297338).

Le Monde du Droit, which carried out a survey of law firm clients, has named Benoît Denis as one of the five energy lawyers of the year 2022 (https://www.lemondedudroit.fr/professions/238-avocat/80584-palmares-droit-paris-2022-avocats-annee.html).

IAE Group also awarded him the 2022 Criminal Lawyer Award for France (https://iae.group/benoit-denis/).
